Dani García

Chef at the Dani García Group (Marbella, Spain)

Having scaled the heights of the Michelin Olympus, he came back down to earth to democratise new Spanish cuisine. He now divides up his time between these functions.

Born in Marbella in 1975, Dani García is one of today's leading chefs. After studying in Málaga's Catering School, La Cónsula, he learned the trade alongside Martín Berasategui. Back home, he opened Tragabuches in 1998, and won himself a Michelin star. In 2005 he took his cuisine to the Calima restaurant, where he stayed until 2013 and earned two stars. The third came at Restaurante Dani García in Marbella's Hotel Puente Romano.

After winning the stars, he decided to close down the restaurant to export his cooking all over the world in a less exclusive format with a number of brands - BIBO, Lobito de Mar, Leña, Dani Brasserie, Babette, Alelí, Casa Dani, La Gran Familia Mediterránea and El Pollo Verde, at locations such as Madrid, London, New York and Doha. His group and catering line employ 600 people, and it turned over 22 million in 2019.

In 2021 he opened Smoked Room in Madrid, where he won another two Michelin stars, an award that had not been achieved by any Spanish outlet since 1936. García has won a host of prizes, including the National Gastronomy Award in 2009.
