Laura Suárez
Pastry chef in Habatonka (La Orotava and La Laguna, Tenerife, Spain)

She worked in Diverxo and became a young entrepreneur, then returning to Tenerife to undertake her vocation: desserts.
Laura Suárez started out in the pastry world in 2014 when she decided to drop out of her Accounting and Finance studies at the University of La Laguna and move to Madrid to obtain the “Grand Diplôme de Pâtisserie” from Le Cordon Bleu. After working at great restaurants such as Diverxo or La Cabra, at just 24 years of age she decided to open her first business with her brother Víctor: Restaurante Haydée. Two years later, they opened their second, Mamanena.
In 2019 she won the Overall Canary Island Regional Pastry Chef Prize, where she realised that desserts deserved a place which they had not been given until then. That’s how she opened up her own sweet making factory in 2021: Habatonka in La Orotava, a space where dessert is the most important thing from start to finish. In 2022, she opened her second establishment in La Laguna.
