Tasting Session

A grape, an island, thousands of wines: the Tenerife terroirs through the listán negro

A look at some of the thousand nuances of an intimate association between listán negro, a grape only found in the Canaries, and Tenerife's many lava landscapes.

Listán negro, unique to the Canary Island, plays a crucial role in the rebirth of Tenerife into the world of fine red wine. This is a chameleonesque grape, more of an expression of the land that has grown its varieties, and the people who have worked it and  transformed than of any genetic character.

The variety's best wines convey the landscapes, damp or dry, sea or mountain, the culture of Portugal or Castilla, dotted around the island of Tenerife. The event will take a look at the island's varied viticultures.
