Spain's best Russian salad 2022 is made at the Castru Gaiteru restaurant in Llanes
Pedro Antonio Noriega, from the Castru Gaiteru restaurant in Celorio (Llanes, Asturias), took the award for the 5th San Miguel National Russian Salad Championship on Tuesday at Gastronomika.
The Castru Gaiteru restaurant in Celorio (Llanes, Asturias) took the award for the 5th San Miguel National Russian Salad Championship on Tuesday at San Sebastian Gastronomika – Euskadi Basque Country. Castru Gaiteru takes up the torch as the maker of Spain's best Russian salad from Tragatá (Ronda), and so the prize leaves Málaga province for the first time in the last three years (in 2020 it was won by Chinchín Puerto -Caleta de Vélez- and by Candado Golf –Málaga- in 2019).
Castru Gaiteru won through with a jury panel composed of chefs and journalists such as Martín Berasategui, Luís Enriquez, José Carlos Capel, Benito Gómez, Julia Pérez, Carlos Maribona, Ricard Camarena and Benjamín Lana. The presenter was chef and showman David de Jorge.
This makes Llanes the best place for Russian salad in Spain, the only tapa - with apologies to potato tortilla - common to the entire country. The runners-up, according to the jury, were the restaurants Hevia (Madrid), Bar FM (Granada), Becerrita (Sevilla), EatyJet (Vitoria), Bar Alegría (Barcelona), La Taberna de Noa (Badajoz) and Bar Pepe (Somo, Cantabria).
