The Lakes on a plate; 20 years of inspiration from Cumbria

A county in northeast England next to Scotland is the source of inspiration for one of the pioneers of the "Farm to Table" movement in England.

Chef Simon Rogan runs half a dozen outlets in England and Hong Kong, but his philosophy of things local is born and dies in Cumbria, one of England's 47 counties (in the northeast of the country), where he was born and undertook his professional career. Specifically, it is in Cumbria that Rogan finds his source of inspiration: The Lake District, a small expanse of land that is a National Park.

The English chef will be extolling this region's virtues at Gastronomika, and also of how its resources and customs are applied to his parent restaurant L’Enclume***, in Cumbria, and his other outlets in London and Hong Kong.
