Mundu bira

The Elkano chef goes into the origins of the grill, which are also rooted in the first voyage around the world.

On 8 September 1522, 18 men led by Vasc mariner Juan Sebastián Elcano set out from Sevilla on the "Victoria" on the greatest seafaring feat in history: the First Voyage around the World. After three years at sea, amid many hardships they successfully sailed the planet's vast oceans to discover the true dimensions of the globe.

This talk is a tribute to the products that travelled all over the world from Spain 500 years ago, and also to the discoveries that the sailors brought back from the Americas, which down through the centuries eventually adapted to the peninsula and its climate. Bearing in mind who the speaker is, the talk will also be a tribute to the grill, the cooking method used by sailors on ships at the time.
